Media-AI

Support

Help with local media playback, on-device AI subtitles, live recording transcription, subtitle translation, network media, and storage management.

What Media-AI is for

Media-AI plays local and network media and uses on-device AI to create subtitles, live transcripts, translations, and speaker-aware results.

Where your data lives

Imported media, recordings, transcripts, app settings, and generated files are stored primarily on your device. Media-AI does not use its own transcription server.

Contact Support

Please include your device model, operating system version, Media-AI version, media format or source type, and a short description of the issue. For playback or transcription problems, include the exact error message and a redacted screenshot when possible.

Common Help Topics

Importing and playing media

  • You can select videos from Photos, import audio or video files, or open supported media from another app.
  • Media-AI supports system playback formats and uses an additional playback engine for formats such as MKV, WebM, and AVI when needed.
  • If a file does not open, confirm that it is fully downloaded, not protected by DRM, and uses supported audio and video codecs.

Generating AI subtitles

  • AI transcription runs on your device with the bundled Whisper model and may use substantial memory, storage, battery, and processing time.
  • Keep the app available while the task prepares audio and processes chunks. You can review task status from the Tasks tab.
  • For better results, choose the spoken language when known and use clean, clearly audible speech.
  • Completed subtitles can be displayed, translated, adjusted, and exported from the player.

Recording and live transcription

  • Microphone permission is required before Media-AI can record audio.
  • The large AI model must be ready before recording and live transcription begin.
  • Headphones can help prevent playback audio from being captured again by the microphone.
  • If transcription stops, check microphone permission, available storage, and whether another app is using the audio input.

Subtitle translation

  • Translation uses Apple's system Translation framework rather than a Media-AI server.
  • The required language model may need to be downloaded by the operating system.
  • Translation availability depends on the device, OS version, selected source language, and target language.

WebDAV, SMB, podcasts, and media links

  • Local network permission is needed for SMB and other sources hosted on your local network.
  • Check the host, port, path, username, password, and TLS setting when a saved connection fails.
  • Remote playback and podcast feeds require network access and depend on the availability and compatibility of the server you choose.
  • Media-AI stores saved connection passwords in the device Keychain.

Storage, cache, and deletion

  • Open Settings → Storage Management to review app-managed media, subtitles, transcription work files, and caches.
  • Deleting generated subtitles does not delete the original media file unless you separately remove that media from the local library.
  • Removing a saved network connection or podcast subscription does not delete content from the remote server.
  • Some temporary data is normally cleared after a task finishes or expires.

When contacting support, do not send private recordings, full network credentials, or unredacted personal media. A short sample or redacted screenshot is usually enough.
