Media-AI

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 28, 2026

Media-AI ("the App", "we", "our") is a local media player and on-device AI subtitle application. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App may access, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

1. Information you provide or create

Depending on the features you use, Media-AI may store the following information on your device:

  • Audio and video files you import or copy into the App
  • Microphone recordings you choose to create
  • Generated subtitles, transcripts, translations, timing adjustments, speaker information, and exported subtitle files
  • Transcription task state, processing progress, playback position, media preferences, and App settings
  • Saved WebDAV and SMB connection details, including credentials you provide
  • Podcast feed URLs, subscription snapshots, and episode metadata
  • Temporary audio, downloaded remote media, waveform data, noise-reduction files, thumbnails, and other caches
  • Local quality and diagnostic data related to transcription tasks

2. Device permissions and system capabilities

Media-AI may request access to:

  • Photos: to let you select and play videos from your photo library
  • Microphone: to record audio and create live transcriptions when you start a recording
  • Local network: to connect to SMB, WebDAV, and other media sources available on your local network
  • Files and security-scoped documents: to open media you explicitly select through the system file picker or another app

If you deny a permission, the related feature may be unavailable. You can change permissions in system settings.

3. On-device AI transcription and audio processing

Media-AI performs Whisper transcription, voice activity detection, optional noise reduction, and speaker processing on your device. The App does not upload your audio, video, or transcript to a Media-AI transcription server.

4. Subtitle translation

Subtitle translation uses Apple's system Translation framework. Media-AI does not send subtitle text to its own translation server. The operating system may download language models or process information as necessary to provide Apple's translation service, subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.

5. Network media and third-party sources

When you add or use a WebDAV server, SMB share, podcast feed, remote media URL, or other network source, the App connects to the server or host you selected. Requests may include the address, path, authentication information, and technical network information required to browse, download, or stream content.

Saved connection metadata is stored in the App's local storage. Saved passwords are stored in the device Keychain. The operator of a remote server or podcast host may receive information normally associated with a network request, such as your IP address, request time, and requested resource. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy practices.

6. Storage and processing

App-created information is primarily stored within the App's container on your device. Some files you export are stored in a location you choose and are then controlled by you and the selected storage provider.

Media-AI does not provide an account system or its own cloud synchronization service.

7. Analytics, advertising, and tracking

The current version of Media-AI does not include third-party advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics services. We do not sell your personal information.

8. Data sharing

We do not share your media, recordings, or transcripts with advertisers or data brokers. Information is transmitted only when you choose a feature that requires communication with Apple services or a remote media source you configure, or when disclosure is required by law.

9. Data retention and deletion

You can delete local media, recordings, generated subtitles, translations, task records, saved network connections, podcast subscriptions, and app-managed caches through the relevant App screens. Some temporary processing data is normally removed when a task completes or after it expires.

Deleting an item in Media-AI does not delete copies you exported or content stored on a remote server. Removing the App generally removes data inside its local container according to the operating system's behavior, but files saved elsewhere remain until you delete them.

10. Security

Media-AI uses platform storage protections and stores saved network passwords in the device Keychain. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. Use trusted networks and secure servers, especially when connecting without encrypted transport.

11. Children's privacy

Media-AI is not directed to children under the age required by applicable law for independent consent in their region, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information through an App-operated service.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App's features or data practices change. The latest version will show a revised "Last updated" date.
